When it comes to claiming for insurance - be it for your car, home, business, or agricultural concern - things can get a little bit stressful. All those phone calls, paperwork and documents to source… That’s why we’ve made the process as easy and convenient as possible with our new online claiming functionality. It’s available to you 24/7 so you can register your claim at your own pace in just 4 simple steps.
To get started, visit client.santam.co.za and log into your account. If you’ve never used our client site before, register your claims and link your policy to your account. Navigate to the Policy page and click on the ‘Register claim’ button. Select the type of claim you would like to register (General Claim or Motor Glass Claim) and complete the date on which the accident happened. Hit ‘Register claim’ and your 4-steps claim registration will begin.
Step 1: Choose the items you want to claim for
On this page, you will see various drop-down menus to expand: home content, vehicles, all risk and personal liability. Under the relevant section you will see your details, e.g. the model of car. Choose the item or items you are claiming for, and click ‘Next’.
Step 2: Tell us more about the event
Now we will need the time of the incident and the address where it took place. If your claim is related to a known catastrophe - e.g. a fire, flood or hail storm - it will appear as an option to select. If you’ve reported the event to the police, please complete your SAP case number. If not, you can do so at a later stage and notify us of the case number then.
Step 3: More details about the item you are claiming for
Nearly there! Now we just need a bit more detail about the item you are claiming for and the damage/loss that occurred. This page will look different depending on whether it’s a vehicle, personal liability or household item claim. For example, if you were involved in a car collision, we will ask who was driving and what caused the accident, e.g. a pothole or farm road.
We will also confirm vehicle details that we have for you on the system, such as where the car is normally parked, details of the regular driver, whether the vehicle was towed, where it’s currently stored, if anyone was injured, and so on. Please complete all the compulsory sections (with asterisks *). At the end of this page, you will also be given the option to provide your cell phone number so that we can keep you up to date with progress on your claim via SMS.
Step 4: Summary - you’re all done!
This is the final page of your claims registration. Please go over all the details you’ve given carefully to see that everything is correct. Then click ‘Save’ to complete your submission. You will receive a claim number via email and one of our consultants will be in contact. We may need additional documents - see the list of what’s required here if you’d like to be prepared.
If you have another item you would like to claim for, register another claim or visit the Policy/Claims page to see a list of all your saved drafts and open claims.
